2022 NSF Campaign for Girls Under 15 Club Soccer Team

Sports are an integral part of development and empowerment for girls. According to the Women’s Sports Foundation, sports is one of the most important socio-cultural learning experiences for girls:

  • High school girls who play sports are less likely to be involved in an unintended pregnancy; more likely to get better grades in school and more likely to graduate than girls who do not play sports.

  • Girls and women who play sports have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem and lower levels of depression.

  • Girls and women who play sports have a more positive body image and experience higher states of psychological well-being than girls and women who do not play sports.

In the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic and with the adverse risks of social media, the opportunities for girls to develop a positive self-concept, protect and improve their mental well-being, and promote their physical health are more significant than ever.

The Nartey Sports Foundation is pleased to host a fundraiser for the 2008 United Los Angeles Girls Soccer Team to attend the Historic Gothia Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament in July 2022.

This team was the 2018 Cal South State Cup Champions and the 2019 Cal South State Cup Finalists. The team holds multiple league championships, and is coached by a staff of US Soccer and UEFA Licensed Youth Soccer Coaches.

Beyond their soccer accomplishments, the team prides itself on its diversity, with players and families representing every racial and ethnic demographic and a range of socio-economic levels and communities from across Los Angeles. This team symbolizes the future of intersectional feminism, and it is with great pride and excitement that the Nartey Sports Foundation endorses their fundraiser.

THE TEAM’S GOAL IS TO RAISE US$50,000 TO SEND 15 PLAYERS AND TWO COACHES FROM LOS ANGELES TO REPRESENT THE UNITED STATES IN THE 2022 GOTHIA CUP TOURNAMENT.

Donations to this fundraiser are fully-tax deductible, and a receipt will be automatically generated for individual donors or corporate sponsors by the fiscal sponsor of the Nartey Sports Foundation (Edward Charles Foundation). Please indicate that your contribution is specifically for this campaign by noting “GOTHIA CUP 2022" when you complete your donation. Questions may be sent directly to narteysportsfoundation@gmail.com.

Thank you for you support of girls in sport!
